Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Geisinger Medical Laboratories in Muncy, Pennsylvania. As a Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care through innovative, efficient, and high-quality laboratory services.

This is a per diem position that offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic team. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks to provide a specimen of highest analytical quality for testing and accurate information for our clients.

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines.
• Exhibit knowledge of adequate and correct collection requirements.
• Perform accessioning procedures appropriately and accurately to ensure positive identification of the specimens.
• Recognize and resolve discrepancies as appropriate.
• Evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability.
• Resolve or refer problems as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience, estimated to be around $40,000-$60,000 per year. We also offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
