The Ferguson Florissant School District is in search of a dedicated educator for the role of Early Childhood Special Education Instructor. This position involves delivering educational instruction and specialized services to children aged three to five years who exhibit developmental delays, as part of the district's Early Childhood Special Education and Early Education initiatives.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid Missouri teaching certificate in Early Childhood Special Education is required.
- Responsible for developing, monitoring, and reviewing Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
- Coordinate all special education documentation related to the special education process, including referrals, IEP creation, and execution, ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
- Establish a classroom atmosphere that fosters learning and is suitable for the maturity, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Engage in the implementation of a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for young children with special needs.
- Utilize a diverse range of instructional techniques and strategies.
- Encourage the development of social skills among young learners.
- Deliver individualized, small group, and classroom-based special education instruction in alignment with the IEP.
- Advocate for a transdisciplinary approach to address children's needs.
- Implement therapeutic procedures and techniques (such as speech/language, motor, social/emotional) in collaboration with specialists and therapists.
- Oversee the provision of special education services by Instructional Aides and volunteers.
- Support the regular education teacher in delivering instruction and understanding the needs of students with developmental delays to effectively provide early intervention services in a preschool context.
- Gather and report data regarding child progress and other relevant information.
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain regular communication with parents to keep them informed about their child's development.
- Assist in the transition of students from the early childhood special education program to school-age programs.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned that relate to the effective delivery of services to children and their families.
