POSITION SUMMARY:
As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Cancer Navigator Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in guiding patients diagnosed with cancer and their families through the complexities of treatment and care. This position involves:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supporting cancer patients and their families throughout their healthcare journey, ensuring they are well-informed and empowered in their decision-making.
2. Collecting essential information from patients and external resources to facilitate comprehensive clinical assessments.
3. Compiling relevant clinical data for review by the multidisciplinary tumor board or attending physician.
4. Coordinating necessary diagnostic tests as recommended by the tumor board or physician.
5. Educating patients on their treatment plans, fostering understanding and compliance.
6. Connecting patients with additional support services as required.
7. Managing inquiries from patients and healthcare providers regarding oncology services.
8. Engaging in community outreach and educational initiatives that promote a patient-centered approach to cancer care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Must possess a current Registered Nurse license in the state of Georgia.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in oncology nursing is highly desirable.
