GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role operates with a significant level of autonomy to conduct specimen collection, registration, and preparation for transportation as a core responsibility. The position is essential in recognizing and fulfilling the requirements of laboratory clients. Communication is maintained through both office correspondence and phone interactions to deliver information and address inquiries related to testing requests, submission protocols, and result tracking. Proficient use of information systems is necessary to collect data and monitor client interactions. The candidate must exhibit consistent competency, dependability, efficiency, and empathy.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • A minimum of six months of phlebotomy experience with proven skills in specimen collection from diverse patient demographics is required.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation with insurance is essential for site rotations and sample deliveries.
  • Ability to adhere to both written and verbal instructions while showcasing outstanding customer service abilities is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing information systems and maintaining organized work practices is necessary.
  • Experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
  • A diploma or certificate from a formal phlebotomy training program is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must possess and uphold a valid Michigan driver's license.
