Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Mechanic to join our team in the Transportation Department of Brockport Central School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles, including buses and other equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair vehicles, including brakes, suspension, cooling, exhaust, electrical, transmission, and engine systems
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues
  • Work with a team to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and technologies
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Automotive Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a closely related field; or
  • Possession of a Certificate from a technical institute or regionally accredited college or university in a related field; or
  • Two years of paid full-time or part-time equivalent experience as a journeyman-level automotive mechanic; or
  • Five years of paid full-time or part-time equivalent experience as an automotive mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic under the supervision of a journeyman-level mechanic; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements
  • Possession of a valid NYS Class B commercial driver's license with both P and S endorsements
  • Depending on assignment, possession of a valid New York State Inspector's license may be required
