We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering relevant health information.
- Perform laboratory procedures, such as strep tests and wound cultures, using aseptic technique and standard precautions.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with procedures and surgeries, such as pelvic exams and allergy testing.
- Administer medications, including immunizations and antibiotics, under physician orders.
- Provide basic patient instructions and follow through with necessary procedure requests.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure smooth clinic flow.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport with patients and staff.
- Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding and navigation within electronic medical records systems.
This role requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and bending throughout the workday. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from the floor to waist level and push/pull with 30 pounds of force.
You will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluid hazards on a frequent basis and will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
