Medical Assistant Job Summary:

A Medical Assistant at Madison Medical Affiliates provides quality patient care by assisting the physician with clinic-specific tasks, including rooming, vital signs, injections, and point-of-care testing and treatment. The Medical Assistant follows Madison Medical specific standards of practice, policies, and procedures. This full-time position reports to the Clinic Supervisor/Assistant Director of Clinic Operations, is within Urology, and is located in a clinic setting with some travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms as scheduled, completes brief histories through appropriate documentation, and obtains accurate vital signs.
  • Stays current on electronic health records (EHR) changes and ensures appropriate and effective documentation in patient records.
  • Ensures excellent and timely care for patients - manages phone calls and messages efficiently, checks EHR and email regularly.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms and maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment.
  • Administers routine medications. Performs specialty-specific point-of-care testing such as Urinalysis.
  • Provides basic patient education.
  • Refills medications or obtains prior authorizations according to MD protocols or as directed by the physician.
  • Schedules appointments as needed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or military equivalent, or demonstrated skills in capacity for at least one year.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Strong data entry skills and ability to work with computer applications.
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong and comfortable communicating with patients, peers, and physicians.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and with co-workers in a team.
  • Drive to provide excellent patient service and care in an environment with significant and frequent opportunities to effectively resolve problems and conflict situations.
