Banquet Captain

At Sheild Catering, we're seeking a highly skilled and organized Banquet Captain to join our team. As a key member of our service team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of events, from setup to breakdown.

• Review and understand all aspects of the Banquet Event Order (BEO) to deliver exceptional client experiences.
• Coordinate with the Service & Event Manager to oversee event logistics, including transportation, setup, and delivery of all required items.
• Manage the performance and quality of the service team, ensuring breaks are taken according to state and federal law.
• Train new service team members and organize the setup of tables, chairs, place settings, banquets, service stations, and bars as needed.
• Ensure the event space is safe and free of hazards, and protect and maintain all equipment and wares.
• Manage guest experiences during events, communicating any needs, problems, or concerns to the Service & Event Manager in a timely manner.

• 1 year of full-service, off-site catering experience, with 3 or more years preferred.
• Ability to stay organized, especially during peak business, and maintain composure under high stress and pressure.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong verbal communication skills, and ability to coach and train team members of all levels.
• Current driver's license, clean driving record, and Food Handlers Card (Oregon).
• OLCC License and SERV Safe certification within 60 days of employment.

• Ability to stand for up to 10 hours and lift 50 lbs.
• Work in various weather conditions, including summer months and outdoor sites.
