About the Role

Children's Mercy KC is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Lactation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a lactation-specific plan of care for breastfeeding/human milk feeding families to promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meet the educational needs of mothers and their families, utilizing sound principles of teaching/learning.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the care team.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and 3-5 years of experience as a nurse on a pediatric medical floor, pediatric intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, or a mother/baby unit.
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire, or Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire.
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification required within 365 days of hire.
