Emergency Services Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Services Director to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall operations, implementation, and evaluation of activities for providing emergency services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement practice guidelines per recognized standards
- Provide direct patient care as necessary for evaluation of department services and patient outcomes
- Collaborate with resources to ensure optimal and efficient accounting operations for purchases, payment for services, and prior authorizations
- Supervise staff, including orientation, credentialing, competency completion, and continuing education
- Ensure accurate documentation of information related to patient care activities, regulatory requirements, data collection, and statistical reporting
- Prepare reports, proposals, and related documents for administrative/service needs
- Maintain current knowledge of industry safety and perform ongoing assessment of the environment for safety compliance
- Coordinate activities to ensure safety compliance
- Develop and implement better performance strategies and clinical management competence
- Perform functions related to serving as an ambassador representing UNMH/HSC in a professional and positive manner
- Maintain open communication and feedback with customers
- Ensure a harassment-free environment for patients and staff
- Coordinate benchmarking activities as related to emergency services
- Assist patients, staff, families, and other related healthcare providers in times of stress or crisis
- Seek resources for defusing and debriefing activities
- Develop efficient organizational structure and supervise employees
- Develop and administer the division's annual budget and monitor and approve expenditures
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops
We are looking for a candidate with a Master's Degree in a related field and at least 5 years of directly related experience. Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency services, leadership, and patient care.
Candidates must have current certifications in CPR for Healthcare/BLS and RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement. Additional certifications such as TNCC, ENPC, APLS, NALS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, or related are a plus.
The selected candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate exposure to chemicals/dangerous equipment/materials.
