Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Prepared Foods Department Supervisor to join our team at Whole Foods Market - Yonkers. As a key member of our prepared foods team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Delegate Tasks: Supervise and delegate tasks to prepared foods team members, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Train and Develop Team Members: Work with the prepared foods trainer to train team members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  • Assist with Training and Onboarding: Assist in training of new team members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Department: Keep all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated.
  • Ensure Excellent Customer Service: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; respond promptly to customer needs and questions.
  • Lead by Example: Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Manage Inventory and Supplies: Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
  • Conduct Performance Evaluations: Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
  • Communicate Effectively: Consistently communicate and model WFM vision and goals.
Requirements
  • 12+ Months Retail Experience: Must have at least 12 months of retail experience.
  • Strong Leadership Skills: Must have strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with team members, customers, and management.
  • Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Working Conditions
  • Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.
  • Hand Use: Must be able to use hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Exposure to Cleaning Chemicals: Must be able to work in an environment where exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals is possible.
  • Exposure to Temperature Extremes: Must be able to work in an environment where exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit is possible.
