Job Summary
This position involves performing a wide range of maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of school facilities. The successful candidate will work under supervision to perform tasks in one or more basic building and maintenance trades, including electrical work, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance, as well as assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of roofs, doors, windows, and other structural components.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and inspecting buildings, equipment, and grounds;
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of gas and water lines;
- Operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and cranes;
- May weld metal parts together using gas and arc welding processes;
- Prepare surfaces, mix paints, and finish various equipment, furniture, schools, and physical structures.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need to have equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, and one year performing a variety of maintenance work in one or more of the building maintenance trades. You should also possess knowledge of basic methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in maintenance, repair, and construction work, as well as safe working methods and procedures.
