Role Overview
As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you will leverage your advanced technical skills to execute intricate preventive maintenance and repair tasks across various building systems and equipment. Working with minimal oversight, you will monitor and assess the performance of building operations while utilizing a range of trade skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, roofing, and HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and company policies related to building operations and safety.
- Conduct thorough inspections of building systems such as fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to verify operational efficiency and adherence to client specifications.
- Oversee and evaluate the work of external contractors engaged in landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, and cleaning services.
- Perform emergency and preventive maintenance tasks, maintaining accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
- Review and prioritize work orders, estimating the necessary time and materials for completion, and procuring supplies as needed.
- Implement energy management strategies to optimize system performance and minimize operational costs.
- Maintain the building's lighting systems, including repairs and replacements of components.
- Execute welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith duties as required.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, coordinating additional support when necessary.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Role
This position does not entail formal supervisory responsibilities; however, you may provide informal assistance and technical guidance to colleagues and coordinate tasks as needed.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, along with a minimum of four years of relevant experience or trade school training. Preferred qualifications include:
- Universal CFC certification.
- Additional certifications in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration systems, process controls, or other relevant trades.
Communication Skills
Strong ability to interpret instructions and correspondence, write routine reports, and effectively present information to various audiences.
Financial Acumen
Basic understanding of financial principles and the ability to perform simple calculations.
Reasoning Skills
Proficient in solving practical problems and managing diverse variables in situations with limited standardization.
Other Skills and Abilities
Proficient in using personal computers and relevant software for work order management and communication. Physical requirements include the ability to lift heavy loads and perform tasks involving standing, walking, and climbing.
Safety Responsibilities
Accountable for personal safety and the safety of others affected by your work. Adhere to all safety training and protocols, reporting any hazardous conditions promptly.
