Position Overview:

Soliant is on the lookout for a proficient and passionate Sign Language Interpreter to support educational settings. This role is crucial in enabling effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their educators, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpretation: Deliver precise and effective sign language interpretation during instructional sessions, school events, and other pertinent interactions.
  • Communication Facilitation: Ensure seamless communication between students and educators, aiding students in comprehending academic material and engaging fully in school activities.
  • Supportive Environment: Contribute to a welcoming learning environment by bridging communication divides and enhancing understanding among students and faculty.
  • Collaboration: Partner with teachers, special education personnel, and school leaders to address the educational requirements of deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive documentation of interpreting services rendered and communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding student progress and needs.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must possess relevant certification for sign language interpreting, such as RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification or its equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in interpreting within educational environments or working with students is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) along with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with educators and support personnel.
