About This Role

Audible's Quality Assurance organization plays a vital role in promoting product quality and organizational quality ownership through well-defined, measurable processes and comprehensive quality assessment.

The team includes Quality Assurance Engineers, Quality Assurance Technicians, and Software Engineers working alongside Software Development Engineers, Product Managers, User Experience, and Customer Support staff to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will drive the creation and execution of test strategies, test plans, and test cases, utilizing automated tools to optimize the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

You will perform exploratory testing, automate repetitive tasks, and collaborate with software development engineers to deliver high-quality products to Audible customers.

Key responsibilities include reviewing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) with Product and development engineers for conformity and functionality, designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts for backend services, and conducting end-to-end testing for complex backend systems and APIs.

You will also collaborate with development teams to understand system architecture and identify testing needs, utilize AWS services for testing environments and deployment of test solutions, analyze test results, and provide actionable insights to improve software quality.

Additionally, you will identify, document, and track defects using appropriate tools, mentor junior QA engineers, and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Participate in the development and maintenance of testing frameworks and tools, and continuously improve QA processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer or SDET
  • Experience with REST automation using a programming or scripting language (Java or Python preferred)
  • Experience owning the full test strategy through test completion for major components of a software system
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related fields
  • Communication skills – ability to communicate cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
  • Solid grounding in computer science fundamentals
  • Thrive in an ambiguous environment where change is the only constant
  • Ability to triage issues, react well to changes, collaborate with other test and development teams
  • Effective multitasker comfortable working on multiple products and projects
  • Experience in testing and test automation for consumer-facing applications and devices
