Engineering Project Coordinator

PTS Advance is in search of an Engineering Scheduler to assist the Engineering Department in the development and execution of projects. This role encompasses the implementation of standard practices in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, earned value analysis, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Local candidates preferred
Compensation: $65+ per hour (Dependent on Experience)
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with availability required on weekends during specific events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish communication and reporting networks for data collection, review, analysis, and presentation of recommendations to ensure projects stay on track and within financial limits.
- Provide updates on schedule status and recommendations to project teams to maintain adherence to approved budgets and cash flow constraints.
- Collaborate with project teams to create and uphold project work breakdown structures in line with company and Project Controls standards.
- Oversee and maintain project performance measurement systems (Primavera P6) and reports regarding contractor progress.
- Ensure compliance with project control procedures and reporting requirements by both MPC and contractors.
- Assist the Project Controls Supervisor with monthly portfolio and project status reports.
- Engage with various departments to gather information, address issues, and resolve challenges.
- Maintain and update master program and project plans, along with sub-project plans for effective monitoring and tracking.
- Provide necessary information regarding the content, modification, or presentation of project schedules.
- Identify and document the impact of completed and outstanding work as per the schedule. Assess actual engineering progress and deliver regular schedule updates.
- Collaborate with Operations, Owners, and Subcontractors to discuss work impacts and problem resolution.
- Contribute to the formulation of working schedules for Estimating prior to execution, clearly illustrating the sequence of work activities and project timelines.
- Prepare and distribute preliminary phased schedules.
- Incorporate resource loading data into schedules as necessary.
- Consult with relevant project team members and adhere to MPC's estimating procedures to ensure proper planning before work commencement.
- Support Project Managers in developing short-term schedules, monitor their impact on the master schedule, and assist in devising corrective actions for scheduling issues.
- Develop and maintain regular manpower estimates/histograms for current, upcoming, and future work to forecast manpower needs effectively.
- Conduct Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis on projects in the engineering phase.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A high level of competency in cost control, scheduling, and forecasting with relevant experience is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Strong communication skills are a must.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Accounting, Finance, or Engineering is preferred.
- More than one year of experience in executing, contracting, planning, and scheduling project work is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in planning, scheduling, or cost controls within the refining or petrochemical industry is advantageous.
- Field experience with a proven track record of collaboration with field execution leads is beneficial.
- Experience with Enterprise Project Controls systems such as SAP or Primavera P6 is preferred.
- Experience in developing reports using data analytics tools within the Microsoft Suite (Advanced Excel Experience) such as Power BI is a plus.
