Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Automation Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of the production area by ensuring that all automation systems are operational and functioning optimally.

Qualifications and Skills:

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. A strong mechanical aptitude is essential. The ability to learn about injection molding machinery, assembly workflows, auxiliary systems, decorating machinery, robotics, and automation technology is required. Commitment to participate in or complete the Maintenance Apprenticeship Program is necessary. Candidates should possess their own tools for job-related tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital. Basic computer proficiency is expected. The ability to troubleshoot complex servo-driven systems, vacuum circuits, and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics along with mechanical drawings is essential. Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:


• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with complex servo-driven systems, vacuum circuits, and machinery using digital multi-meters and technical documentation, including mechanical drawings and schematics.

• Maintain and enhance the performance of all existing automation systems.

• Support production start-ups and transitions related to automation systems, which may involve leveling and aligning automation and robotic components, centering mechanical parts, relocating automation between presses, adjusting stroke settings, and changing robotic heads and associated mechanical elements.

• Learn to initiate automation processes, adjust moving axis points, and implement minor programming modifications on various robotic and automation equipment.

• Responsible for the replacement or repair of mechanical and electrical components as needed.

• Collaborate with engineering and other departments to facilitate the implementation and installation of new projects.
