Role Overview

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Structural and Mechanical Systems Engineer I, you'll play a critical role in designing, installing, modifying, analyzing, repairing, and testing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply standard engineering techniques to develop, release, and support engineering artifacts across the development cycle.
  • Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations to maintenance crews.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an internship with Blue Origin in 2024.
  • Enrolled or recently graduating student attending a college or university.
  • Able to start working full-time on or before September 2025.
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, or a similar discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for Blue's Mission with a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive compensation range: $75,510.00-$105,714.00 (CA applicants), $69,217.50-$96,904.50 (CO applicants), $75,510.00-$105,714.00 (WA applicants). Other site ranges may differ.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
