Job Overview

Position Summary:
- Employ the nursing process to deliver direct patient care to pediatric patients.
- Accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating comprehensive care for assigned children.
- Care delivery adheres to established standards and practices set forth by the Nursing Department and relevant policies.
- Diagnose and manage responses to health issues through services such as case finding, health education, counseling, and supportive care.
- Supervise care provided by licensed practical nurses (LPNs), registered nurses on permit (RNP), nursing assistants, and other support staff.
- Assess the immediate and ongoing care requirements of patients and their families.
- Develop thorough and current care plans that encompass physical, educational, and psychosocial needs.
- Provide direct care based on assessed needs and medical directives.
- Oversee and ensure the delivery of all facets of patient care.
- Supervise nursing personnel in accordance with defined scopes of practice.
- Observe, assess, document, and communicate patient responses to illness and treatment to relevant team members.
- Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and significant changes in condition.
- Coordinate the overall care plan to guarantee the implementation of nursing interventions consistent with medical directives.
- Establish care priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and initiate follow-up as necessary to ensure timely patient care.
- Ensure care plans are tailored to meet age-specific needs (e.g., pediatrics, geriatrics) as defined by unit protocols.
- Accept responsibility for nursing interventions and outcomes based on clinical judgment.
- Engage in quality improvement activities related to patient care delivery and the establishment of nursing standards.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, manage stressful situations, and foster collaborative relationships with other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the orientation and training of nursing staff.
- Assume charge responsibilities as delegated by the Nurse/Manager.
- Ensure adequate coverage for all patients by assisting colleagues and working in other units as required.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing students.
- Participate in meetings, committees, conferences, and educational initiatives.
- Engage in research and pilot projects supported by the Nursing Department.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development, including participation in staff development and continuing education programs, pursuing advanced degrees in nursing, and obtaining relevant professional certifications.
- Involve in professional and community organizations.

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience in pediatric care – acute or long-term care.
- Proficient in utilizing electronic health record systems and relevant healthcare technologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills.

Required Education:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.

Preferred Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Required Certifications and Licenses:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid Nursing License in the state of practice.
