Job Overview

Position Summary:
- Employ the nursing process to deliver direct patient care to pediatric patients.
- Accountable for the prescribing, delegation, and coordination of all care provided to assigned pediatric patients.
- Care delivery adheres to the established standards of practice and policies set forth by the Nursing Department and other relevant protocols.
- Identify and address health responses to actual and potential issues through services such as case finding, health education, counseling, and restorative care.
- Supervise care provided by licensed practical nurses (LPNs), registered nurses on permit (RNP), nursing assistants, and support staff.
- Assess the immediate and ongoing care requirements of patients and their families.
- Formulate comprehensive care plans that encompass physical, educational, discharge, and psychosocial/spiritual needs.
- Deliver direct care based on assessed needs and prescribed medical regimens.
- Oversee and ensure the comprehensive provision of care for pediatric patients.
- Supervise the nursing care provided by other personnel as defined by their scope of practice.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient responses to illness and treatment to relevant team members.
- Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and significant changes in condition.
- Coordinate the overall care plan to ensure nursing interventions align with medical directives.
- Establish care priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and initiate follow-up as necessary.
- Ensure that care plans reflect age-specific needs, including those of pediatric patients.
- Accept responsibility for nursing interventions and outcomes based on clinical judgment.
- Engage in quality improvement activities related to patient care delivery and the establishment of nursing standards.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, manage stressful situations, and foster relationships with other healthcare disciplines.
- Participate in the orientation and training of nursing staff.
- Assume charge responsibilities as delegated by the Nurse/Manager.
- Ensure appropriate patient coverage by assisting colleagues and working in other units as required.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing students.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and educational programs.
- Engage in research and pilot projects supported by the Nursing Department.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and education, including attendance at staff development programs and pursuit of advanced degrees in nursing.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience in pediatric care, whether in acute or long-term settings.
- Proficient in utilizing electronic health record systems and relevant healthcare technology.
- Strong interpersonal skills.

Required Education:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.

Preferred Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Required Certifications and Licensure:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Nursing License in the state of practice.
