Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraeducator to join our team at Spokane Public Schools. As a Paraeducator, you will work closely with special education teachers and students to provide support and instruction in core academic areas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction and support to students with disabilities in core academic areas.
  • Assist special education teachers in implementing student Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioral and social skills programs.
  • Participate as a contributing member of a collaborative team to support student learning and achievement.
  • Assist students with physical and mobility needs, personal care, and pre-vocational and transition activities.
  • Manage student equipment and assistive technology as needed.
  • Supervise and promote safety of students in multiple settings.
  • Administer, monitor, and document medication following district policy and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from an accredited college, AA or BA degree, or pass an academically rigorous assessment.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to aggressive and physical behaviors.
  • Willing and physically capable of kneeling, bending, and working or sitting on the floor with students.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and use assistive devices as needed.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in communication skills.
