Job Summary

The Fair Lending Officer is a critical role at Civista Bank, responsible for ensuring compliance with HMDA requirements and managing Fair Lending analytics reporting. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and analyze Fair Lending and HMDA data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Facilitate the collection of HMDA data from mortgage, consumer, and commercial lines of business
  • Review loan files to validate information reported on the HMDA Loan Application Register (LAR)
  • Communicate exceptions, errors, or concerns to the applicable line of business for review and resolution
  • Conduct edit checks and provide feedback to management on areas requiring improvement
  • Prepare and submit annual HMDA LAR to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
  • Develop and execute review and/or audit test samples independently or in conjunction with the Compliance team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Financial services or Compliance experience preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience reviewing or auditing mortgage, consumer, or commercial lending data
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with large datasets (1,000+ files, fields, or inputs)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with proprietary software products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills, oral and written
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload, including ad-hoc requests and adhere to deadlines
