About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Inspector/Plans Examiner to join our team at SAFEbuilt. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to work on a variety of projects and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test mechanical installations in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Advise contractors on changes required to ensure code compliance and engage in periodic surveillance of assigned areas to detect violations.
  • Perform inspections of existing commercial businesses for Certificates of Use and Occupancy.
  • Conduct field inspections of mechanical systems, including air-conditioning and heating systems, insulation, pressure and process piping, refrigeration, cooling towers, and more.
  • Perform acceptance tests for mechanical systems, including exhaust and supply fan operation, discharge tests for automatic fire suppression systems, and other test procedures.
  • Provide recommendations and suggestions to contractors regarding changes necessary to ensure compliance with the South Florida Building Code.
  • Organize inspection route schedules and maintain accurate records of inspections.
  • Answer telephone calls from contractors and the public, offering information and clarification, and assisting in resolving conflicts.
Requirements
  • Florida Standard Inspector Mechanical License required.
  • Certified as a Mechanical Inspector by the Miami Dade County Board of Rules and Appeals.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
