Registered Nurse II - (Part-Time)

The Registered Nurse II is responsible for delivering advanced bedside nursing services in a healthcare facility. Operating under general supervision, this role allows for significant initiative and independent decision-making. The nurse will lead in the coordination and provision of high-quality, compassionate care to patients.

This position involves utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care for patients and their families.

Key responsibilities include preparing, administering, and documenting prescribed medications, as well as assessing and evaluating patient care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

The role requires expertise in evaluating medical information and delivering personalized bedside nursing care to patients, including those undergoing surgery and those with infectious diseases. The nurse will demonstrate clinical proficiency in caring for the designated patient population and contribute to performance improvement initiatives while participating in competency assessments.

Additional responsibilities include engaging in emergency preparedness, safety protocols, and infection control measures for the unit. The nurse may also assist with patient rehabilitation and transportation needs when necessary and may take on the duties of Patient Care Coordinator in the absence of the charge nurse.

Core Responsibilities:

Patient-Centric Care:
Create a supportive environment by offering emotional, psychological, and spiritual assistance to patients and their families. Maintain respectful communication and tailor care to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Personal Care Duties:
Provide essential personal care tasks such as bathing, hygiene maintenance, and assistance with mobility and feeding.

Medication Administration:
Administer medications and treatments while monitoring patients for any unusual symptoms or reactions, adhering to established protocols for medication management.

Documentation and Assessment:
Accurately document patient care services and conduct comprehensive assessments in line with policy standards. Record vital signs and pursue further investigations as necessary.

Discharge Planning:
Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate effective discharge planning.

Patient and Family Education:
Provide instruction and support to patients in managing their healthcare needs, maintaining accurate patient records and assessments.

Compliance and Safety:
Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to infection control policies to ensure a safe healthcare environment.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be registered nurses in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact. A valid Texas driver's license is also required.

This position emphasizes the importance of continuous professional development, compliance with healthcare regulations, and active participation in quality assurance programs.
