Job Title: Janitor - Full Time Evenings

Mennonite Village is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Janitor to join our team. As a Janitor, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dry mop all hallways and public areas
  • Vacuum all entry carpet mats
  • Scrubs all hallways and public areas with the floor machine on a daily basis
  • Maintain the floor machine, including cleaning and recharging
  • Buff all hallways once a week
  • Scrubs and recoats floors with wax once every three months
  • Strips and refinishes floors as needed
  • Schedule tasks with affected parties
  • Maintain inventory of needed supplies on personal work cart
  • Order supplies
  • Record completed tasks on provided forms each night
  • Submit task forms to the housekeeping supervisor
  • Schedule and clean nursing equipment such as wheelchairs, geri-chairs, etc.
Requirements:
  • Supportive of the Mennonite Home philosophy
  • Demonstrated knowledge in floor maintenance and related equipment operation
  • Ability to prioritize workload and act independently under general guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
  • Capable of pushing equipment weighing 80 pounds; ability to stoop, bend, and lift equipment; ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in uncomfortable temperatures and odors
  • Ability to follow Materials Safety Data Sheet regarding the proper handling and disposal of dangerous chemicals
