We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Support Specialist to join our team at the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. This role will play a vital part in supporting the academic growth and development of students, ensuring they receive high-quality instruction and guidance.
About the JobThis position is responsible for delivering academic support services to students through eLearning opportunities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing academic strategies, collaborating with teaching staff to ensure student success, and maintaining accurate records of student progress.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver academic support programs for students
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure effective implementation of academic plans
- Monitor and record student progress, identifying areas for improvement
- Provide homework assistance and tutorials to support student learning
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills
- Bachelor's degree and/or Georgia Teaching Certificate preferred
- Minimum 2 years' experience in working with Title 1 schools and extended day programming
- Required certifications: Teaching Certificate; must obtain any other certifications required for the position
- Ability to obtain working knowledge of 21st CCLC requirements
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem-solve, and possess effective time management skills
- Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality
This role requires sitting, bending, stooping, standing, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Emphasis will be placed on member service, program knowledge, member/staff safety, and communication with members and staff.
Compensation and BenefitsThe estimated salary for this role is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to competitive pay, we offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
