Automation Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer - Assembly to join our team in Libertyville, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for specifying, designing, and maintaining automation equipment, tooling, and applications to meet specifications.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately-complex automation equipment, tooling, and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
- Program robots (Yaskawa, Universal, Omron) and automation equipment (Omron, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley - Rockwell, Keyence).
- Develop and maintain equipment standards for design, components, controls, signals, and documentation.
- Develop Scope of Work documentation to be followed for new equipment projects.
- Electrical/Mechanical knowledge and ability to PLC programming (RS Logix).
- Wiring of controls including working knowledge of safety relay circuitry.
- Troubleshoot to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans, and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
- Understand the machine operating standards, consequence of wear and tear parts, and product defects.
- Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance.
- Should be willing to learn and enhance the skill in all types of Automation equipment.
- Should prepare why-why evaluation and drive for permanent corrective actions.
- Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience as an automation engineer in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of electromechanical assembly equipment, PLC Programming, and Logic (RSLOGIX/Allen Bradley).
- Experience with troubleshooting for root cause with electromechanical automation equipment and driving a corrective action.
- Maintaining standards for equipment design, controls, and documentation.
- Experience in medical manufacturing or other highly regulated manufacturing environment (preferred).
