Software Engineer III

Job Summary

As a Software Engineer III at Walmart, you will play a key role in developing a seamless checkout experience for our customers. This will involve collaborating with a talented group of frontend engineers to design and implement a scalable and secure checkout system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, identify, estimate, and develop software solutions to improve the checkout experience.
  • Lead the design, architecture, and reviews of the checkout system.
  • Work on optimizing the products on Cloud Infra, cost, performance, and other key metrics.
  • Document and record every aspect of the application or software.
  • Mentor and oversee the activities of the members of the development team.
  • Address complex technical issues and troubleshoot problems, implementing effective solutions.
  • Develop good working relationships with other employees, such as Marketing Managers, Product Managers, Programmers, and Engineers.
  • Broad understanding of coding and programming languages.
  • Experience with database design and data modeling.
  • Excellent understanding of design patterns, principles, and architectural styles.
  • Proficient knowledge of the operation and development designs of agile software.
  • Expertise with content management systems and CI/CD.
  • Strong soft skills, including attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Requirements
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 5+ years of industry experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing software in an agile team environment.
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of Java, JavaScript Technologies, SQL/NOSQL Databases, Distributed Caching, REST web services, Container Technologies, and message processing platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience creating scalable backend services that support critical application functions.
  • Experience in Design, Development, Coding, Testing, and Releasing to QA.
  • Experience with monitoring app performance, stability, and using observability tools to optimize the application performance.
  • Experience using cloud service providers such as Azure and GCP for application deployment and monitoring.
  • Ability to Improve code quality through writing unit tests, automation, and performing code reviews.
  • A strong foundation of software design - know-how to create software that's extensible, reusable, and meets desired architectural objectives.
