Position Overview

Harvis, Inc. is dedicated to providing complimentary services aimed at empowering individuals who aspire to further their education. Our primary focus is on supporting low-income, potential first-generation college students.

We are currently in search of an Educational Program Specialist for our Talent Search initiative.

This role will be primarily based in our designated office, with regular travel required in the surrounding regions.

The Educational Program Specialist will play a crucial role in guiding clients towards educational advancement.

Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Identify and recruit eligible participants as outlined by the Department of Education criteria for the program.
  • Conduct visits to outreach locations established for recruitment purposes.
  • Engage with participants in the office, complete initial contact documentation, and summarize services provided.
  • Maintain precise and accurate records.
  • Clearly explain the program and outline available services.
  • Administer and assess career evaluation tools.
  • Provide career counseling and guidance.
  • Assist in organizing field trips, including overnight excursions.
  • Offer academic support and guidance.
  • Facilitate assistance with financial aid applications (federal, state, institutional, private), college admissions, scholarship applications, and entry into GED programs.
  • Conduct follow-up with participants to ensure continued support.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in psychology, education, or counseling.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, particularly low-income and/or potential first-generation college students.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  • This position requires flexibility in scheduling, travel, and on-call availability.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance are required.
  • Clearances: PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal History Check, FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
