Crossing Guard Position

The Town of Needham, MA is seeking a qualified individual to fill a part-time Crossing Guard (Traffic Supervisor) role. As a Crossing Guard, you will be responsible for directing and controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic at an assigned location to ensure the safety of school children and the safe, orderly flow of vehicular traffic.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure Safe Traffic Flow: Ensure that children and members of the public use the proper crossing locations and that no child or individual is in the street while traffic is moving.
- Identify and Report Hazards: Be alert for present or potential traffic hazards in the area surrounding the assigned crossing and submit a written report to the Safety Officer of any such hazards.
- Monitor Parking Violations: May be assigned to monitor areas and issue tickets for observed parking violations.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of work experience, preferably working with the public.
- Transportation: Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
- Personal Qualities: Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, and dependability. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Ability to display good judgement and respond quickly to emergencies.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
