Position Overview:

The Robotics Autonomy Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing the research and innovation of robotic and unmanned systems across diverse operational environments and mission objectives. This position operates at the convergence of software and hardware, focusing on the design, construction, testing, and demonstration of novel robotic functionalities that tackle intricate client challenges in sensing, autonomy, and human-machine interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of Robot Operating Systems (ROS), including the creation of custom messages, nodes, packages, or stacks.
  • Engage in software maintenance and deployment practices, emphasizing version control, CI/CD, packaging, containerization, and thorough documentation.
  • Develop backend software in C++ tailored for embedded Linux systems.
  • Implement algorithms and software solutions for mobile robotic sensing, perception, localization, navigation, and behaviors in both aerial and terrestrial domains.
  • Effectively articulate complex technical concepts to varied audiences through both written and verbal communication.
  • Possess the capability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics, along with 1+ years of experience in robotics or systems engineering, or a Master's degree in the same fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing architectures and algorithms for multi-agent, distributed collaborative autonomy.
  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Familiarity with Docker image development and container deployment.
  • Experience with Git-based version control and branch or tag strategies.
  • Understanding of military strategy, operations, and tactics.
  • Ability to formulate strategies for internal research and development initiatives aimed at achieving specific business objectives.
  • Capability to lead a diverse technical team in strategy formulation, project planning, and execution.
  • Ability to engage with clients professionally to ascertain their needs, propose solutions, and present or demonstrate outcomes.

Security Clearance:

Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is mandatory.

The salary for this position is influenced by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and contract-specific requirements. The projected compensation range for this role is $54,000.00 to $123,000.00 annually. This range represents the typical salary for this position and is one component of Booz Allen's overall compensation package.
