About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at ResCare Community Living. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals with intellectual, developmental, or cognitive disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage patient care according to individual needs, including interviewing patients and recording medical history and physical condition.
  • Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration, and provide routine care as needed.
  • Provide 1:1 care for clients, maintaining their dignity and independence, and monitoring vital statistics to report abnormal findings to case managers and physicians.
  • Administer medications, feedings, oxygen, and ostomy care as needed, and perform assessments of results.
  • Complete routines established by other care professionals, such as Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists.
  • Ensure infection control policies are maintained, report possible communicable diseases or infections, and implement infection control procedures.
  • Accurately document nursing actions and communicate with family, case managers, and physicians, and document progress and outcomes for established goals.
  • Order supplies and medications as needed, and ensure all patient needs are met in accordance with physician instructions.
  • Monitor incidents involving individuals, complete incident reports, and examine individuals following incidents.
  • Ensure all medical equipment is maintained and report faulty equipment for repair.
Requirements
  • Completed post-secondary coursework to facilitate licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Knowledge of individual service plans, including understanding of client rights and health needs.
  • Proof of current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in good standing from the state(s) of practice.
  • CPR Certified.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy, and compassion.
  • In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations.
  • Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for several medical conditions.
