Lunchroom Assistant Manager

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lunchroom Assistant Manager to join our team at Seattle Public Schools. As a key member of our culinary services team, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, nutritious food production and service to our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and serve attractive, high-quality, nutritious meals following standardized procedures and meeting District standards.
- Lead assigned staff in meal preparation, serving, and clean-up, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate food and supply inventories, and report equipment malfunctions to ensure safe working conditions.
- Direct or assist unit employees in meal preparation tasks to meet emergencies, on-the-job training situations, or as necessary to maintain the operation of the cafeteria unit.
- Maintain required daily records and reports, and submit to the Kitchen Manager.
- Collect money and account for meals served according to established procedures.
- Promote Child Nutrition Services programs to increase meal participation, and assist school staff in promoting proper nutrition.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with others, and perform related duties as assigned.
This position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks. The successful candidate will also be able to communicate effectively with students and adults in some difficult situations, and adapt to change and remain flexible.
Qualifications- Meet minimum qualifications for Assistant and Satellite Servers.
- One year experience in commercial or institutional food preparation.
- Ability to utilize fundamentals of meal preparation, plan menus, and adjust recipes.
- Competency to complete and maintain all records as requested, and substitute as needed.
Seattle Public Schools benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year is eligible for benefits.
