About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Firefighter at the City of Jacksonville, North Carolina. As a Firefighter, you will play a critical role in providing fire suppression and rescue services to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency fire and medical-related situations, providing critical care and support to those in need.
  • Participate in continuing training and instruction programs to stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies.
  • Maintain fire apparatus and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and ready for use at a moment's notice.
  • Conduct inspections and maintenance on fire hoses, pumps, hydrants, and related equipment.
  • Assist with pre-planning and inspection activities to ensure our community is prepared for emergencies.
  • Conduct child safety seat and smoke alarm inspections and installations to help keep our community safe.
  • Perform other firefighting and related emergency tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Class C Driver's License.
  • NC Firefighter Certification or transferable equivalent.
  • NC Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) certification.
  • NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Child Passenger Safety Technician certification.
  • Fire Life Safety Educator I or Technical Rescuer VMR Block certification.
