We are seeking a highly skilled Conveyor Maintenance Technician to join our team at Big Lots. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in performing conveyor maintenance in a distribution and fulfillment center environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support the identification, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment in highly automated material handling systems.
- Develop plans to accomplish department and operational goals.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with highly automated material handling systems, including pallet conveyors, ASRS pallet cranes, robotic depalletizers, carton descramblers, carton sorters, carton ASRS shuttles, print & apply systems, sick scanners, empty pallet stackers, multiple types of carton conveyors, hydraulics, PLC motor controls & systems, PC controls, Profibus communications, pneumatics, mechanical drive and electronic variable frequency drives.
- Troubleshoot and debug all issues, including mechanical, electrical, or programming, using provided drawings, direction, or writing sections of the PLC application code.
- Modify, adjust, or develop robotic application code.
- Mark-up drawings with updates or changes as required.
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications, and troubleshooting guides.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Maintain equipment and manage parts and supplies inventories to determine inventory level, anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies, place and expedite orders, and verify receipt.
- Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Train and support Conveyor Maintenance Technicians on equipment operation and PLC controls.
- Support Conveyor Maintenance Technicians by motivating, providing guidance, technical support, and directions to help them achieve their goals.
- Years of related maintenance technician experience and/or training.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prior work in a Distribution Center environment is preferred.
- Experience with Intelligrated Systems equipment, Dambach cranes, Fanuc robotics, and IRIS computerized maintenance management software or equivalent experience is required.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and experience.
- Mechanical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment and read/interpret mechanical drawings, including experience with pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
- Electrical Skills: Able to size circuits (wire, disconnects, conduit, etc.) and install for new installations, and read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Advanced troubleshooting, installation, programming, diagnostic proficiency, and repair of PLC and motor controls is required.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to be effective.
- Proficient with MS Office products and operating systems.
