Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student learning.
  • Use evidence-based instructional strategies and technologies to promote student engagement, motivation, and academic achievement.
  • Provide regular progress updates to parents and guardians, and involve them in the IEP development process.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in special education, and apply this knowledge to inform instructional decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in Special Education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, and to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
