Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student learning.
  • Design and deliver engaging and effective lessons that promote academic, social, and emotional growth in students.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and involve them in the educational process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in Special Education.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and support staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and universal design for learning (UDL) principles.
  • Ability to use technology to support instruction and communication.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus.
