Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Northshore. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans, and other radiographic exams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans, and other radiographic exams.
  • Position patients for exams and apply immobilization devices as needed.
  • Monitor patient conditions during procedures and report any changes to surgeons.
  • Assist patients with wheelchairs and stretchers on and off surgical tables and diagnostic x-ray tables.
  • Participate in maintaining aseptic conditions in the surgical room during examination processes.
  • Process images and check for proper quality.
  • Report any diagnostic equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate levels of supplies in work areas.
  • Supervise activities of students assigned to surgical work areas and assist in training.
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedules in the surgery area.
  • Schedule exams and maintain quality of services in the surgery area.
  • Assume responsibility for own professional growth by attending continuing education classes and seminars.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
  • Current ARRT registration with certification in Radiography and Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Dept of Nuclear Safety accreditation required.
  • One year experience as a general radiographer with operating room experience or an NCH student Radiologic Technologist graduate with 3 months experience in surgery/OR required.
  • Current CPR certification from American Heart Association required.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform numerous radiographic examinations that are required in the surgical area.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and who may be anxious or confused and to interact with surgeons and other hospital staff.
  • Analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and to determine quality of exams performed.
  • Communication skills necessary to inform patients regarding examination procedures and discuss procedure requirements with surgeons.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to use a computer to perform the representative functions and competencies of the job as defined by the Radiology Department.
