Job Summary

Southland Holdings is seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to join our team as an Estimator - Tunneling Specialist. This role is responsible for cost engineering scopes of work and incorporating solutions from the engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up services groups to produce an estimate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complete discipline-specific estimates for very large, complex industrial projects.
  • Read specifications and develop notes for unique or extraordinary items.
  • Understand project past cost data for benchmarking to compare to estimates.
  • Coordinate with design teams to influence lowest cost of construction.
  • Facilitate cross-discipline communication.
  • Train and mentor estimators.
  • Stay current on various trends and developments in the industry or specialized discipline.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or similar field of study from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of relevant estimating experience, with 10+ years of experience estimating on tunneling projects.
  • 5+ years of experience leading/supervising estimating teams.
  • Experience with HCSS, Blue Beam, Primavera P6, and Procore, AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15-20%.
