- In this role, the Junior Scientist will formulate and implement analytical strategies for mRNA molecules, facilitating thorough ex vivo studies.
- A successful applicant will be motivated by the ambition to create, refine, and establish processes efficiently within a collaborative framework.
- Conduct and resolve issues related to analytical assays for mRNA characterization.
- Aid in the design and assessment of new analytical development assays.
- Support the establishment of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols for analytical evaluations.
- Oversee samples and data pertinent to mRNA platform process development.
- Enhance workflows for evaluating mRNA characteristics and impurities.
- Provide experimental design and execution assistance to colleagues in related functions (e.g., clinical development initiatives, high-throughput process development, etc.).
- Actively engage in lab upkeep and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain a precise and comprehensive laboratory notebook and documentation.
- Summarize and present findings in team meetings and contribute to discussions.
- Prepare technical reports, study memos, and protocols.
Qualifications:
- A degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience; title and compensation will align with education, experience, and skill set.
- Proficient in generating and interpreting qPCR and RT-PCR datasets.
- Familiarity with capillary electrophoresis (preferably the Sciex PA800 Plus system), agarose gel electrophoresis, and/or TapeStation analysis.
- Competence in ELISA workflows.
- Experience in handling, storing, and analyzing purified nucleic acids.
- Self-motivated with the capability to collaborate effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to utilize literature and resources to address challenges and innovate new technologies.
- A growth mindset and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in biological or chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience with IP-RP-UPLC method development.
- Familiarity with JMP for design of experiments (DoE) analysis.
- Experience in in vitro transcription of mRNA.
- History of collaboration with vendors.
- Proficient in collecting, organizing, and interpreting large datasets.
- Experience with mammalian cell-based assays, including flow cytometric readouts.
- Significant experience in analytical method development for biological molecules, particularly in measuring mRNA impurities, quality attributes, and cellular expression.
