Job Summary
The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization with a strong presence in agriculture and related businesses. We are a true farm-to-table company with operations touching every aspect of agriculture, including seed production, farming, and ranching, plant sciences, fertilizer manufacturing, food processing, commercial product development, and distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and care for feedlot cattle by identifying sick, injured, or stressed animals and removing them from pens for medical treatment.
- Assist with the receiving, unloading, sorting, and processing of cattle as assigned by the Feedlot and/or Cattle Manager.
- Provide medical treatment to sick or injured cattle according to an established medical-treatment plan provided by the Staff Veterinarian.
- Move cattle from pen to pen as instructed by the Cattle Manager and/or Lead Cowboy to rotate cattle according to production schedules.
- Train, shoe, feed, and medically treat horses to provide healthy, productive animals.

Education and Experience
Knowledgeable in the areas of animal health and cattle conditions, generally acquired with a minimum of two to five years related experience and/or training.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands/fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
