Quality Assurance Manager for Precast Concrete
Rocky Mountain Precast, a company owned by its employees, is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for our precast concrete facility. Our company specializes in the production of various structural and utility concrete products.
Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee the interpretation of detailed scaled drawings, conduct necessary assessments on concrete products, and implement modifications based on testing outcomes. This role requires consistent communication and collaboration with the Operations Manager and production staff to uphold the highest quality standards across all manufactured items. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to all protocols regarding the testing, documentation, and finishing of concrete products produced at the facility. Responsibilities include inspection, sampling, testing, and reporting in accordance with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience in precast or concrete operations is preferred.
- Certification at PCI Level 2 or 3 is desirable.
Skills and Competencies
- Lead quality assurance initiatives alongside the QC team, coordinating daily tasks that encompass:
- Testing of Fresh Concrete
- Pre-pour and Post-pour Inspections
- Assessing segments in the yard for appearance and overall quality, ensuring necessary repairs are executed.
- Collaborate with production teams to enhance overall quality through effective communication.
- Review daily production drawings.
- Maintain records of all materials received and segments produced, documenting quality control reports.
- Conduct inspections throughout the production cycle.
- Direct quality control inspections and testing to maintain oversight of materials, facilities, and products.
- Prepare the facility for Precast Concrete Institute (PCI) Audits.
- Participate in plant visits and conduct tours as requested by the Operations Manager.
- Develop and implement a Quality Management System and best practices.
- Create a corrective action workflow that integrates production outcomes and fosters accountability to identify and resolve root causes of quality or service challenges.
- Design quality reports and scorecards to deliver timely and actionable information across the organization.
- Review production drawings daily, noting any unusual details and communicating them to production teams.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with established standards and processes.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to work in a plant construction setting, which may involve extended periods of walking and standing.
- Must be capable of occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work 10-hour shifts, 6 days a week if necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions, including high temperatures and humidity.
