Reading Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Reading Specialist to join our team at The Pinnacle School. As a Reading Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting students with language-based learning differences to achieve academic success.
Responsibilities:- Interpret results of literacy screening assessments to inform instruction and develop individualized plans for students.
- Provide diagnostic testing and recommendations for instructional materials and supplies to support reading and language arts instruction.
- Develop and implement instructional plans for reading and writing instruction, including small group and individualized instruction.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement student Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) in the areas of reading and writing.
- Consult with classroom staff on instructional strategies to support reading comprehension and fluency development.
- Valid Connecticut state license with endorsement 102-Remedial Reading and Remedial Languages Arts grades 1-12, or eligible for license to practice in the state of Connecticut.
- Training or certification in Orton Gillingham, Wilson, or multi-sensory approach to reading.
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching special education student populations with language-based learning differences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
