Position Overview:
The CNC Machinist III / Programmer plays a crucial role in the setup, programming, and operation of CNC vertical mills and lathes within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, inspect, and operate various machine tools, including sanding, lapping, polishing machines, and lathes, ensuring meticulous attention to detail for optimal results.
- Operate CNC Mills equipped with 4th axis indexers and/or 5th axis tables.
- Program 3-axis mills and EDMs utilizing Mastercam, while selecting appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds as required.
- Configure CNC lathes with sub-spindles and/or live tooling.
- Adjust cutter compensation and work offsets on machine tools to achieve desired specifications.
- Operate lathes with sub-spindles and/or live tools, making necessary adjustments to cutter compensation and work offsets.
- Set up and operate Wire EDM and EDM drills.
- Utilize the Omax Water Jet for the production of both production and prototype components.
- Employ inspection tools such as gage blocks, pins, calipers, and micrometers for precise measurements.
- Conduct rough and power sanding and deburring operations.
- Operate inspection equipment including sanding, lapping, and polishing machines.
- Create setup sheets and first article inspection reports.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering teams on product design initiatives.
- Successfully machine process fixtures while ensuring quality control throughout the production process.
- Perform first article inspections on all components as necessary, or verify machined features against specifications when first article inspections are not required.
- Maintain daily machine upkeep, including coolant concentration and lubrication oil levels.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity.
- Ability to follow written or verbal instructions and work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration within teams.
- Positive attitude and a proactive approach to work.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a machinist role.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds consistently throughout the day.
