Position Overview
The Managing Attorney for the Family Law Program (FLP) will oversee and direct the operations of the Family Law Program, which includes a dedicated staff attorney, a paralegal, and a legal assistant. This program plays a crucial role in supporting individuals affected by intimate partner violence by offering comprehensive legal representation, limited scope assistance, and professional legal counsel in civil matters. Furthermore, the FLP collaborates with community legal advocates to conduct legal clinics, educational initiatives, and volunteer training sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the FLP team, providing constructive feedback and mentorship to ensure exceptional service delivery while prioritizing the needs of survivors.
- Offer legal advice, limited scope representation, and full representation to clients dealing with family law issues stemming from intimate partner abuse.
- Conduct thorough legal research, draft necessary legal documents, and prepare pleadings and memoranda to ensure high-quality representation.
- Represent clients in court, attending hearings, status conferences, and trials as required.
- Evaluate client cases for program eligibility and facilitate appropriate placements with volunteer attorneys, providing necessary support and oversight.
- Supervise, mentor, and train interns associated with Safe & Stable Families.
- Collaborate closely with community legal advocates to organize Know Your Rights clinics and outreach events aimed at educating survivors about their legal options.
- Facilitate training sessions on intimate partner abuse, Guardian ad Litem responsibilities, and other relevant topics.
- Engage in court and county task forces, committees, and bar activities to foster relationships with other service providers and enhance the reach of Safe & Stable Families.
- Participate in bar events, training sessions, and public speaking opportunities.
Qualifications
Must hold a valid membership with the Georgia Bar, in good standing, with no disciplinary actions. A minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in representing survivors of intimate partner abuse in civil legal matters is required. Courtroom experience is essential. Must possess or be willing to obtain notary certification.

- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively

- Familiarity with Salesforce is advantageous.
