Registered Nurse (RN) Opportunity at Highland Rivers Behavioral Health
Highland Rivers Behavioral Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in providing high-quality care to individuals impacted by mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual developmental disabilities.
The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a 24-hour, 365-day-a-year short-term medically monitored unit with 28 beds, providing psychiatric stabilization and detoxification from drugs and alcohol. As a Registered Nurse on our team, you will be responsible for delivering individualized care through the nursing process, including risk assessment, admissions, discharges, administering medication, unit management, and crisis management.
Key Responsibilities:- Complete admission and discharge paperwork, including nursing assessments, and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Monitor all aspects of individual care, including diet and physical activity, and report concerns to the APRN and CSU Nurse Manager.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in individuals' conditions, using proper nursing care to the APRN and CSU Program Manager, and document individual progress or lack thereof.
- Complete required daily shift notes for all individuals on CSU, ensure all chart checks, CIWA, COWS, vitals are completed, and update required logs.
- Transcribe orders as needed, complete daily assignment sheets, and review/update BHL boards to ensure accurate and complete census.
- Maintain stock of supplies in the department, provide education to individuals and/or family in line with appropriate Release of Information, and facilitate groups and activities on the unit.
- Assist with service-related compliance, intervene, stabilize, and manage acute crisis situations as needed, and consult with other outpatient site staff regarding individuals.
- Maintain confidentiality for all indirect/direct service in accordance with agency policies and HIPAA policies, and demonstrate competency for Blood Glucose Monitoring, Alcohol Breathalyzer, Urine Drug Screen, Pregnancy Test, and PPD skin tests.
- Monitor and document all ordered labs, screenings, and results, perform safe phlebotomy practices when drawing blood labs, and assist with seclusions and restraints when necessary.
- Attend case staffing/treatment team meetings, maintain clinical records in accordance with agency policies, and ensure timely completion of agency required trainings/workshops.
Requirements:
- Current RN licensure in the state of employment.
- Experience in crisis stabilization, mental health, or substance abuse treatment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
