We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Kelberman Center Inc. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their homes and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and monitor individualized habilitation plans to promote independence, inclusion, and quality of life for individuals with ASD.
- Provide habilitative and behavioral support to individuals with ASD, addressing goals outlined in their individual goal plan.
- Respond to medical emergencies and log any incidents that may occur during sleeping hours.
- Attend to personal, self-care, and other program needs that individuals cannot independently accomplish.
- Oversee the safety and well-being of individuals, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Advise nursing staff regarding medical and dietary concerns, dispense medication if certified, and participate in activities as part of the treatment team.
- Transport and accompany residences to appointments and community activities.
- Maintain documentation as required, ensuring compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Up to 1 year of experience.
- Valid New York State Driver's License and reliable transportation for work hours.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Ability to meet physical and mental requirements of the position.
Job-related tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, or the potential for skin or mucous membrane contact from spills or splashes of these substances. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Kelberman Center Inc. sites. OSHA Exposure Category 1
