Production Supervisor Role at Smithfield Foods

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Production Supervisor to join our team at Smithfield Foods. This is an exciting opportunity to lead production employees on assigned shifts, ensuring production guidelines are met within established timing, quality, and cost standards.

About the Job

The successful candidate will supervise production employees, train, direct, coach, and lead the production team in day-to-day operations to meet production, safety, and quality requirements. They will drive communication of production goals and objectives, as well as results, to effectively motivate the team to maintain high product quality while maximizing plant efficiencies.

This role requires a strong leader who can provide training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff, manage processes or projects, and champion all safety or ergonomic activities for the department.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Production Teams: Supervise production employees on assigned shifts, ensure production guidelines are met within established timing, quality, and cost standards.
  • Maintain Safety Standards: Perform daily walks and visual inspections of the production floor, observation of unsafe acts or conditions, take immediate corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure Quality and Efficiency: Maintain desired product quality and safety, ensure all staff and employees know and understand the Food Safety plan and the Food Quality plan.
  • Train Employees: Train employees to ensure safe operating procedures are followed, including lock-out and tag-out.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or a related field, 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience: Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff, managing a process or project, preferred.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with others in fast-paced environments, preferred.

$65,000 - $75,000 per year based on location and experience.
