- Evaluate nutritional care and provide follow-up to ensure continuity of care, utilizing electronic medical records effectively.
- Communicate dietetic history and nutritional care data through the electronic medical record, ensuring seamless collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Participate in healthcare team rounds, serving as a consultant on nutritional care and providing dietetic and nutritional consultative services as assigned.
- Compile and utilize operational data to ensure provision of quality nutritional care, interpreting and evaluating current research related to nutritional care.
- Provide nutritional education to students and personnel, developing and utilizing educational materials as aids in nutrition education.
- Utilize human effort and resources efficiently and effectively, evaluating food served for conformance to quality standards and dietary prescriptions.
- Serve on committees as assigned, orienting and training new employees as needed.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance job duties, performing Nutrition Focused Physical Exams (NFPE), assessing and documenting malnutrition diagnosis and coding, managing tube feedings (TF), and managing parenteral nutrition (TPN/PPN).
Patient Group Knowledge: The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient.
Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.
Common Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain and document all applicable required information, demonstrating positive customer service and co-worker relationships.
- Comply with the company's attendance policy, participating in continuous quality improvement activities of the department and institution.
- Perform work in a cost-effective manner, adhering to departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including overtime, various shift work, and on-call duties.
- Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization, following organizational and departmental policies and procedures as applicable.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
