Powertrain Integration Mechanical Engineer

At Supernal, we're pushing the boundaries of human possibility with our electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle and the ground-to-air ecosystem to support the emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the strategy and packaging of the Powertrain System to meet structural and safety requirements, while optimizing for mass, cost, efficiency, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Apply excellent communication and negotiation skills to facilitate discussions between hardware engineering teams with competing interests to invent innovative solutions for resolving tight packaging challenges.
  • Use attention to detail in GD&T analyses and installation drawings to effectively convey assembly intent.
  • Promote the use of CAD methods and standard processes within the Powertrain department.
  • Be responsible for the definition and completion of any/all necessary hardware integration verification activities, including (but not limited to) CAE, physical mockups, and hardware testing.
  • Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan.
  • Up to 25% of domestic and international travel.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in mechanical design (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Experience in packaging of complex systems in aerospace and/or automotive applications.
  • Experience in packaging and mass savings applications.
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical engineering fundamentals across a broad range of topics, including statics, materials, and thermals/fluid dynamics.
  • Demonstrated strong capabilities in 3DX/CATIA for the development of mechanical designs and prototypes.
  • Knowledge of standards DO160G, DO-311A.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints.
  • Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in aerospace design/release of complex mechanical subsystems in an Aerospace application.
  • Understanding of High Voltage systems and electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Able to thrive and remain productive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation. The pay range for this position is: $180,100-$218,300 USD
